Firefighter Escape
This 8 hour class starts in the classroom with the award winning presentation “The Defenestration Sensation” first presented at the 2010 International Technical Rescue Symposium and covers the following basic concepts:
- Case Studies
- When to get out
- Choosing a bailout kit
- Anchor selection
- Proper exit technique
The class moves outside to get to the practical meat and potatoes of the class. We use a Crawl, Walk, Run method to get students comfortable with going out of the window. Starting slowly at first, with remote anchors; we end up with with high speed, anchors at the edge anchoring.
The Rescue 2 Training escape class teaches one set of mechanics for safely bailing out of a window regardless of whether or not a ladder is present and whether or not you have an escape kit. Depite being primarily focused on firefighter escape kits, the mechanics apply to everyone who wants to exit a building quickly under deteriorating conditions.
Advanced Techniques
There are many advanced techniques developed by Rescue 2 Training not found in other escape classes. These techniques go WAY beyond one firefighter out of a window. We cover uses that can rescue other firefighters or civilians who don’t have a means to get out quickly.
Here is a list of some of these skills:
- Lowering multiple victims
- Below grade rescue
- Two firefighters on one kit
- Marginal anchoring
Using the techniques that are emphasized in the class you can see how quickly it is possible to get out!
